Maurice  Arnold  McConnell, 70,  of  LaFayette, Ga.,  died  in  his  home on Sunday, June  10,  2012.

Maurice  was  raised  in  LaFayette.  After  graduation  from  Georgia  Tech  he  was  drafted  into  the  U.S. Army,  and  was  sent  to  Korea  to  serve  on  the  DMZ.  Upon  his  return  he  spent  his  career  with  IBM,  and  returned  to  his  home  town  and  spent  the  following  years  on  his  farm  with  his  wife  and  his  beloved  dogs.

Maurice  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  father  and  mother,  Joshua  D.  and  Laura  E.  McConnell;  and  younger  brother,  William  David  McConnell.

He is  survived  by  his  wife  of  43  years,  Mary;  his  brother,  Gregory  Houston  McConnell;  niece,  Helen  Elizabeth  Shelton;  and  nephew,  Shannon  McConnell.

Graveside  service  and interment will be Wednesday, June 13 at 11 a.m. in  LaFayette  Cemetery.  Service  will be conducted  by  Rev.  Queon  Smith. Pallbearers  are  Cliff  Martin,  Clay  Martin,  Will  Dendy,  Lee  Dendy, and David  Dendy.

The  family  will  receive  friends  at  the  Funeral  Home  Wednesday, June 13  from  10-11 a.m.

In  lieu  of  flowers  memorial  contribution  may  be  made  to  the  Walker  County  Animal  Shelter,  5488  North  Marble  Top  Road,  Chickamauga,  Ga.  30707.
