James Larry Weathers, 55, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died on Monday, June 11, 2012, peacefully at his home.

He was born on July 18, 1956 in Chattanooga, the son of James Marshall and Robinette Jewell Hones Weathers.  He was raised in the East Lake Community of Chattanooga until the age of 19. He was baptized at Philadelphia Baptist Church at the age of 13. He was a roofer for many years. He moved to Ponca City in 1997 and for the last eight years worked in maintenance.  

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sister, Terri and husband Ronnie Chapman of Ponca City, half-brothers, Jerry Jarvis of El Paso, Tx., Ernie Lee Jarvis of Chattanooga, his fiancee’, Karen Kay Ragland of Ponca City.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Dean officiating.  Burial will follow in Sarah’s Chapel Cemetery, Wildwood, Ga.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 15, from 6-9 p.m. in the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge.
