Here are upcoming events at the Harrison Bay State Park:

Thursday

2 p.m. Nature bubbles.  Meet at the concession stand to see how nature spreads its seeds. 

3 p.m. Who Cooks for You? Meet Sarah at the concession stand to learn about native owl species. Make an owl out of paper plates that you can take home. This program requires help from an adult. 

5 p.m. Crazy about Cookies: Have you ever seen the inside of a tree? Learn how scientists determine the age of a tree by examining tree cookies. Meet Sarah at the concession stand. 

Friday 

1 p.m. Tennessee Trivia: Do you know the state bird? How about the state mammal? Meet Sarah at the concession stand to play a fun trivia game. All ages welcome.

3 p.m. Owl Pellets: Do you know what an owl eats? Meet Sarah at the concession stand to find out. 

5 p.m. Camouflage. Meet Matt at the concession to lean about camouflage in the wild.

6 p.m. Dodgeball. Wear sneakers and meet at the tennis courts. Ages 6+, adults are welcome to cheer from the sidelines. 

8 p.m. Meet Ranger Sarah. She will be walking around the campgrounds to tell about the fun programs offered this weekend.

Saturday 

10 a.m. Canoeing. Meet Sarah at the volleyball courts and be ready to get your paddle on. Sign up at the A-frame. Limit 12 people. No one under the age of 7 please, ages 12 and under must have an adult accompany them and sign the release form located at the A-frame.

3 p.m. Color Hike. There are colors in nature you probably haven’t noticed before. Meet Sarah at the concession stand to enhance your observation skills. 

Sunday 

9:30 a.m. Worship Service. Come to the Friends Front Porch across from the basketball courts for this early morning devotional. 

1 p.m. Balloon Animals. Come to the Friends Front to see Vickie create your favorite animal…out of balloons. 

2 p.m. Nature Bingo. Come for a walk to see how many cools things you can find in nature. Meet Sarah at the concession stand. There will be prizes.

5 p.m. Nature Hike. Meet Matt at the head of the Nature Trail to learn about different animals and plants in the park. The hike is a fun and easy one mile so wear sturdy shoes and bring water. All ages welcome.

7:30 p.m. Shape Shifters. Meet Matt at the A-frame to discover how bugs can transform right before your eyes.



DAR Holds State Meeting In Franklin

For the majority of the year DAR chapters work in their home areas but once a year they all come together to compare notes and learn new material to help them in their projects. Federal Agents Seize Almost $6.8 Million From Bank Accounts Of Physician; Says He Has Submitted False Medicare Claims

Federal authorities have seized almost $6.8 million from bank accounts of an area physician. They said Dr. Raymond Sean Brown has submitted false Medicare claims. Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Terry Releford

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case. Deputies responded to that location at approximately 8 a.m. on a suspicious death. On arrival "deputies found a dead female in her 30s deceased from an apparent homicide."
