Betty Browne Baird, 103, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2012, at her home on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.
She was the widow of John Foster Baird and was predeceased by her son, John F. Baird, Jr., her parents, Clara Louise (Holmdale) and Arthur Taber Browne, and her brother, Hamilton Browne.
Mrs. Baird is survived by her nieces, Barbara Browne Gifford (Mrs. Thomas G.), Patty Browne Frierson (Mrs. T. Cartter ), Nancy Browne Maclellan (Mrs. Hugh O.), and their families.
She was born in Chicago, in 1909, and was graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, and from Columbia University with a MSSW. She was a retired social worker in New York City.
After retirement, she moved to Little Switzerland, N.C., where she was a member of the Church of the Resurrection.
A family service will be held locally, and burial will be in Albany, In.
