Middle Valley Church of God, 1703 Thrasher Pike in Hixson, will be honoring fathers in the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday. A specially selected gift will be given to each father present in the service. Additionally, gifts will be presented to the youngest father, the longest living father, and the father with the most family present. Pastor Mitch McClure will preach a sermon titled, "A Father Is More Than A Baby Maker" in the 10:30 a.
m. service.
Pastor McClure stated, "We live in a time that fathers have been replaced, in some cases, by the government social programs. God tells us that fathers are to be responsible for their families. God tells us that fathers are to be involved in the upbringing of the children. God tells us that fathers are to be spiritual examples in the home. The church must lead the way to get back to God's model of the family and to resist the model presented by secular society."
