Seth Aaron Cope, a 2012 graduate of Ringgold High School, was the inaugural recipient of the Ralph Fowler Memorial Scholarship, presented earlier this month.
The scholarship was established in memory of Ralph Fowler, who passed away in 2006. Mr. Fowler was a lifelong Ringgold resident and a devoted husband of 53 years to his wife, Betty, and a 1944 graduate of Ringgold High School.
After the devastation of the tornadoes in Ringgold in 2011, Mrs. Fowler decided the best way to honor her husband’s memory was to set up a scholarship in his name at Ringgold High School, his alma mater, so that a deserving student could receive help to live out their dreams.
Mr. Cope plans to attend Kennesaw State University for basic general education.
His goal is to pursue a career in Nutrition upon graduating from Georgia Southern University. The Ralph Fowler Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually at the discretion of Mrs. Betty Fowler to a graduating Ringgold High School student.
