County Mayor Jim Coppinger praised County Clerk Bill Knowles for his office using innovative ways to earn extra income for the county.
He said Mr. Knowles "has helped to save this county a significant amount of money."
The county mayor added, "We continue to be amazed at how much he is able to give back in terms of excess fees."
Mr. Knowles said "From 2000 to date our office has earned almost $7 million in extra fees for county government. This was accomplished by volunteering to process additional title applications from fleet companies that could have chosen other states where they have offices or depots.
"We have been told by different companies that our track record in serving them over the years makes our office attractive for repeat business.”
