Roberta Drake, 83, died on Friday, June 15, 2012. She was born on October 22, 1928.
Roberta was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She was employed by Fillauer of Chattanooga for more than 30 years until her retirement in 1994. She accepted Christ at an early age and has been a member of the Olivet Baptist Church for nearly 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Drake; parents, Willie and Gussie King; son, Wayne King and Cedric Drake; daughter, Vonza McElvain; grandsons, Aaron Fortson and LeSean Caslin and stepson, Eddie Drake.
She is survived by her sons, Phillip Smith and Charles King; daughters, Wanda (Edward) Pace, Denise Drake, Brelinda Drake, Yolanda (Roderick) Craig, Cassandra Brown, and Trina Drake; brothers, Eddie King and Fred King; special granddaughter, Zandra (Antione) Joshua, all of Chattanooga; stepsons, Aaron Drake, Georgia; Victor (Nell) Drake, California; and Freddie and Sherman Drake of Michigan; sisters-in-law, Edna and Ann Drake; dear friends, Ruth Blackmon and Ruby Shropshire; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nephew, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Olivet Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Adams officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens – East.
The body will lie in state after noon on Tuesday, June 19, with the family receiving friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
