Sodexo and the Erlanger Health System Food and Nutrition Services held their annual "Serv-A-Thon" food drive and collected monetary and non-perishable items that totaled the equivalency of 10,668 pounds of food.
Erlanger and Sodexo presented a check for $1,989.10 for the collected monetary donations and barrels of non-perishable food to Jen Ferking, coordinator of special events and food drives for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.
Food from the Sodexo/Erlanger drive will go towards the Emergency Food Box program. The food box supplements the food stamp program and feeds a family of four for a week. Each 55 pound box includes nutritionally sound items such as protein, fiber, vegetables, fruit and dinner products.
