Tickets for the third annual Chattanooga State Sports Hall of Fame dinner on Fri. June 22 are $40 and reservations can be made by calling 423/697-2656. Deadline for reservations is Mon. June 18.

The hall of fame dinner and induction ceremony will be held at the Walden Club with dinner scheduled for 7 p.m. with a reception starting at 6 p.m.

The induction class of 2012 consists of Frank Reed (softball), Betty Jones (tennis), Thomas Gray (baseball) and the 2012 national championship softball team.

The school's softball and tennis programs began under Reed and Jones, respectively, in 1990.

Reed was 476-87 in 12 seasons at Chattanooga State, before taking the head coaching job at UTC in 2001, and led the Tigers to four, top-five national finishes and seven straight naitonal tournament appearances.

Jones coached the men's and women's tennis programs highlighted by national third place (2000) and runner-up (2001) finishes for the women, while the men were a national top 15 program.

Gray was an NJCAA All-American pitcher (14-2) in 2007 and conference pitcher and player of the year.

The 2012 national champion softball team was 62-4 on the year and is coached by Beth Keylon Randolph.

Police said a Highland Park woman helped crack a mystery about a rash of recent gasoline thefts involving the cutting of expensive gas lines.
