Summars, Donnie R. Sr. (Cleveland)

Donnie R. Summars, Sr., 66, of Cleveland, died on Thursday, June 14, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. 

He was born October 16, 1945 in Michigan to the late Arnold Atchley and Julia Mae Summers. He was a truck driver his entire life and a member of Samples Memorial Baptist Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tom Summars, Bob Summars, Burl Summars and Lee Summars.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Sue Blankenship Summars; daughter, Rhonda Clark; sons, Donnie Summars, Jr. and wife, Ginger and Tim Summars and wife, Sharon; seven grandchildren, Colton Clark and wife, Crystal, Logan Lineberry, Sasha Clark, Chelsie Summars, Tristan Summars, Kayla Retzleff and Shania Retzleff; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Clark; brothers, Jimmy Summars, Carl Summars, Randy Summars and Freddie Summars; sisters, Murl Glover, Carol Boling and Bev Hayes; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at Samples Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Cameron and special nephew, Jimmy Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in Samples Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Donnie Summars, Jr., Tim Summars, Colton Clark, Jimmy Lee Palmer, Kris Jones, and Jimmy Summars serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Summars and Bill Boling. The family will leave in procession from Grissom Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday to the church. 

Grissom Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
