Earl R. Brown, 73, of Dalton, Ga., died Friday, June 15, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Brown was born August 7, 1938 in Whitfield County, Ga. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Brown owned Brown's Carpet and Brown Enterprise with his wife. He graduated from North Whitfield High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Doris Parsons Brown; father, Alfred Brown; sister, Renda Wright; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Oscar "Jack" and Stella Parsons. 

Earl is survived by his mother, Pauline Brown; son, Steve Brown; a daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Kelly Williams; grandchildren, Bradley Griffith, Jacob Brown, Jessica Brown and Andrew Williams; step-grandchild, Jennifer Williams all of Dalton; sisters and brother-in-law; Shirley and Dale Puryear of Chatsworth and Connie Patterson Dalton; brother, Randall Brown of Tunnel Hill; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Margie and Dale Dover of Loudon, Tn., Lula and Joe McMillan of Dalton and Vilinda and Ronnie Goss of Cohutta; special friend, Geneva Haynes; and several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Earl R. Brown will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Wood and Reverend Bruce Beach officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Whitfield Memorial Gardens beside his wife. Bradley Griffith, Jacob Brown, Andrew Williams, James Stone, Edmond Ledford and Don Chastain will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, June 18 and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19 at the Ponders Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund (P.O. Box 2103, Dalton, GA 30722).


Williamson, Betty Faye (Copperhill)

Betty Faye Williamson, 54, of Copperhill, died on May 16, 2013.  She was born in Salisbury, N..,C and raised in Chattanooga. She worked at Animal Clinic East for 12 years and was a big animal lover. Man Stabbed To Death After Argument

A Chattanooga man was stabbed to death after an argument on Friday night.
