McGill, Mildred Nichols (Rock Spring)

Mildred  Nichols  McGill,  88,  of  Rock  Spring, Ga., died  Friday,  June 15, 2012.

She was  a  member  of  the  Rock  Spring  Baptist  Church.

She was preceded  in  death  by  her  husband,  Ara  Mack  “Buck”  McGill; and sisters,  Clarice  Hawthorn and  Mavis  Hooper.

She is survived  by  her  sons,  Gary  McGill,   Lamar  McGill  and  Gene  McGill,  all  of  Rock  Spring; sisters,  Cecile  Cartwright,  of  Benton,  Joyce  Kinsey,  of  Talking  Rock,  Ga. and  Evelyn  Hughes,  of  Ringgold; brothers,  Marvin  Nichols,  of  Scottsville,  Ky.,  and  Ross  Nichols,  of  Woodstation;  seven  grandchildren; 12  great- grandchildren;  two  great-great  grandchildren; and  several  nieces  and  nephews.

Funeral will be from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Sunday, June 17  at  3 p.m.,  conducted  by  Rev.  Todd  Smith. Pallbearers  are  grandsons. Interment will be in  the  Rock  Spring  Cemetery.

The  arrangements  are  by  Wallis-Wilbanks  Funeral  Home,  of  LaFayette.  


Heuser, Valetta Jean (Rock Spring)

Valetta Jean Heuser, 93, of Rock Spring, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 in a local hospital. Mrs. Heuser was a charter member of Ft. James G. “Jaybird” Henderson, Sr., 66, of Chickamauga, died on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at his residence following a three-year battle with cancer.
