Chattanooga Area Players Shine In Future Stars Middle School Game

Landon Elrod of McCallie hit Gage Upshaw of Baylor for a 17-yard TD pass with 37 seconds left to give Tennessee 8th Grade Middle School Future Stars a 20-14 victory at St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Ky.

With 4:30 left in the game Tennessee drove for the winning score after Jamieson White's 9-yard TD run.

Tennessee scored first when Shannon Sprawls of Tyner went 92 yards off tackle and outran the defense. The second score came when Elrod hit Adrian Thomas of Hunter on a 79-yard, one-handed catch and run.

Thomas was the offensive player of the game, while Ryan Parker of Baylor was the defensive player of the game.

Jeremiah Jackson of Ooltewah had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery.

In the 7th grade game, Tennessee player Cole Smith of CAK hit Rico Dozier of the CYA Chiefs on a 37-yard pass. Three plays later he hit Dozier on a 28-yard TD pass to help give Tennessee a 48-7 victory over Kentucky.

Cole, the offensive MVP, had three other TD passes. Tedarius Wilson of Jackson County was the defensive MVP. Giovanni Hightower of the Brainerd Bills had three sacks.
