William Murray

William C. (Deacon) Murray, 70, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.

A native of Knoxville, he was a resident of Chattanooga since 1971.

Mr. Murray was an active member of Harmony Baptist Church for the past 41 years where he had served as a deacon and greeter.

He was formerly employed as a driver for BiLo and Brock Candy Company.  

He was a member of the National Sheriff's Association and was an avid motorcyclist, gardener and loved animals.

He was preceded in death by his father, William C. Murray, Sr.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Gwen Ogle Murray; his daughters and sons-in-law, DeeDee (Tim) Headrick, Knoxville and Lisa (Steve) McKenna, Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Trent, Christy, Tara, Mitchell and Emma; mother, Elwanda Murray;  brother, Donald (Martha) Murray, all of Ooltewah, and sister, Linda (Terry) Holland, Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ray Thompson, Pastor Mike Turner and Reverend Billy Denham officiating.  

At Bill’s request, following the funeral service, he will be cremated and his remains placed in the Great Smokey Mountains.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Russell, Jerry Redmon, Scotty Medlin, Dewey Gass and Louis Sawyers.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Erlanger Trauma ICU and the 9th floor West nurses for all of their love and care.

Eileen L. Trippler, 95, of East Ridge, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.   There will not be any visitation prior to the burial.
