Brainerd High Alumni Weekend Is June 29-July 1

Brainerd High School Alumni Association will host their 6th Annual BHS Alumni Weekend on June 29–July 1.  The purpose of this Alumni Weekend serves as a fundraiser for the BHSAA Scholarship Fund and membership kick-off drive ($25 per year) for the BHSAA.  

This weekend has become a “reunion” of all BHS Classes for ‘60’s – present.  The goal is to raise $15,000 during the weekend for the BHSAA Scholarship Fund.  Below is a list of scheduled events:

• Friday, June 29 – BHSAA Alumni Dance, 9 p.m.–1 a.m., The Mill; advance tickets $25 per couple, $15 for singles.  Advance tickets can be purchased at Heavenly Styles Salon (next to Walmart on Brainerd Road).  Price at the door is $20 per person.

• Saturday, June 30 – BHSAA Family Cookout, 12-4 p.m., front lawn of BHS.  Classes can reserve tent space ($30) by calling Eric McKenzie at 322-9511.  Class reps required to attend meeting on Saturday, June 23, 11 a.m. at Eastgate Town Center (Food Court area).  Encourage all classes to come prepared to make a donation to the BHSAA Scholarship Fund.  

• Sunday, July 1  – Bring Back the Praise, 2–4 p.m. in BHS Auditorium.  Alumni choir, mine performance, praise and worship service to close out the weekend.  

Since 2008, BHSAA has awarded twenty $1,000 scholarships and all previous awardees are still in college make progress toward their degree.  In May,  BHSAA awarded five $1,000 scholarships to 2012 graduates.  

BHS Alums who would like to make a tax-deductible donation, make checks payable to the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, Inc. and in the memo section of the check put BHS Alumni Association Scholarship Fund and remit to the address below:

Rogers, 20, Shot Twice While Standing On His Porch

A 20-year-old man was shot twice while standing on his porch on Monday night. At approximately 8:44 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a shooting that occurred in the 1900 block of Walker Street.
