CARTA will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the downtown electric shuttle on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
The celebration will be held in the plaza of the CARTA’s Shuttle Park North Parking Garage, next to the Visitors Center, on Broad Street.
Since its inception in 1992, the downtown shuttle has carried over 16 million passengers to date. The downtown shuttle has traveled almost three million miles in downtown, and has exceeded over 900,000 round trips to and from the Chattanooga Choo Choo and the Tennessee Aquarium.
CARTA has saved 483,000 gallons of gasoline (equivalent to 100 tanker trucks) by using these electric buses.
