Mike W. Smith, 65, died on Father's Day June 17, 2012 at a local hospital.

He was born on March 8, 1947, in Waynesville, N.C., to James V. and Martha June Smith.

He graduated from Brainerd High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a B.S. degree in business.  Mike enjoyed a 40+ year career as a manufacturer's sales representative in the furniture industry.

He was a resident of Signal Mountain, and a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. 

He was married on July 9,1966 in Chattanooga to Betsy Bush Smith.  Mike was a devoted, loving and hilarious husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He could always be depended on for a helping hand or a laugh at just the right time.  He had many friends and colleagues who will truly miss his advice, his uncanny luck and his unique humor.  Mike was a multi-awarded sales professional who was always held in the highest regard.  His legacy will be carried on by his wife and son in this profession.

Mike is survived by his wife, Betsy, son, Michael “Tic” Smith, daughter-in-law, Janet Smith, grandson, Gerek Evans and granddaughter, Ellie Madison Smith, brother, Col. James V. Smith, sister, Susan S. Eberhardt.  Mike loved fishing and the fish loved him, Mike's best friend and fishing buddy is Dusty May and he and Tic will always have Mike's luck with them on fishing trips.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 7, at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga and Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church for their spiritual support.
