Ally Fien Signs With Union College

Recent Soddy Daisy High School graduate Ally Fien signed an athletic scholarship with Union College (Ky.) Monday to play soccer and will enroll in the fall.

Fien lettered four years in soccer for Soddy Daisy and coach Moises Drumond as the Trojans won four region titles, two sectional championships and advanced to the state final four this past fall. She earned 2011 first team all-region honors as voted on by the soccer coaches and was chattanoogan.

"Ally is going to add a lot to our program as she is a solid defender with great technique," said Union College women's soccer coach Camila Mendes.

"She distributes the ball well and has the ability to organize the plays in the defending third. I am really excited to have her signing to play for Union College. I look forward to a great season in the fall!"

Union College is a member of the NAIA and competes in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Bulldog women's soccer program is coached by Camila Mendes and was 10-8 this past season.

"I am excited about playing soccer at Union College and look forward to my first season in the fall," said Fien who plans to major in physical therapy.

Fien was a region champion in the discus this past spring in track and field and also competed for the Soddy Daisy girls wrestling team.

"It is great to have another Soddy Daisy soccer player sign a college scholarship," said coach  Drumond. "I believe she will be a great defender in college as she was for us for four years."

College Bound:  Fien is the fourth player from the 2011 Soddy Daisy state final four team to commit to play college soccer ... Recent graduate Hannah Wyatt has signed with Tennessee at Chattanooga ... Rising seniors Summer Lanter (Lee University) and Natalie Smith (Austin Peay) have given verbal commitments and will sign next winter.

Man Stabbed To Death After Argument

A Chattanooga man was stabbed to death after an argument on Friday night.
