Barry  Wayne  Sherwood,  62,  of  LaFayette, Ga.,  died  Monday, June 18, 2012.

He was preceded  in  death  by  his  parents,  William  and  Lynn  Martin; sister,  D.  Hughes and  brother,  Andy  Dixon.

He is survived  by his  wife,  Edna  Williams  Sherwood; daughter,  Becky  Vangilder  of  Alabama,  Barbara  Sherwood  of  Virginia and  Barbara  Smith of  LaFayette; sons,  Brad  Sherwood  of  Florida and  Tim  Norton  of  Lafayette;  sister,  Deborah  Ferry,  of  Texas;  eight  grandchildren;  two  great-grandchildren; and several  nieces  and  nephews.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Thursday, June 21  at  2 p.m.  conducted  by  Rev.  Tim  Dennison  and  Rev.  James  Stephens. Interment will follow in  the  Naomi  Cemetery .

Family  will  receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Wednesday, June 20  from  6-8 p.m.

Heuser, Valetta Jean (Rock Spring)

Valetta Jean Heuser, 93, of Rock Spring, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 in a local hospital. Hayden Lamar Lasley, 60, of Hixson, died on Monday, May 20, 2013.   He was a longtime area girls softball coach for more than 35 years. Rogers, 20, Shot Twice While Standing On His Porch

A 20-year-old man was shot twice while standing on his porch on Monday night. At approximately 8:44 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a shooting that occurred in the 1900 block of Walker Street.
