Godsey, Lewis Brent

Lewis Brent Godsey, 61, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at his home.  

He was born in Chattanooga on June 17, 1951. He grew up in Whitwell, Tn., and was a 1969 graduate of Whitwell High School.  Mr. Godsey was the owner of Canoes/Pub 41 on Ringgold Road in East Ridge for 20 years.

He enjoyed NASCAR races, was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider.  He was always a jokester.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Godsey of Chattanooga; sister, Joyce Godsey of Chattanooga; daughter, Mrs. Kathy (Jim) Leamon of Highland Beach, Fla.; his companion of 15 years, Lori Grape of Chattanooga.

Graveside services for Lewis will be held on Friday, June 22, at 10 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Gloria J. Westerfield officiating. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 21, from 4-8 p.m. at the North Chapel.

Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
