Howard and Brainerd high schools will be getting their old names back.
The Howard School and Brainerd High School several years became Howard School of Academics and Technology and Brainerd School of Academics and Technology.
The school board last year pulled back magnet school status for the two schools, but left the names intact.
George Ricks made the motion to restore Howard's name. Jeffrey Wilson made an amendment to restore Brainerd's as well.
School officials said the move would not cause the "high-poverty" schools to lose any grants.
