The new STEM School at Chattanooga State is on track to open Aug. 1 despite a late start, the County School Board was told Thursday.
Gary Waters, who oversees school facilities, earlier said to get ready to open in August that the work needed to commence in February. He said that due to a delay in all the approvals, the work did not start until late May.
However, he said there has been remarkable progress and it will be ready.
The innovative school will have an administrator, six teachers and 78 students.
The staff is spending all summer getting ready for the opening, Supt. Rick Smith said.
