Georgia Winery Commemorates The 150th Anniversary Of Civil War With New Wine

Friday, June 22, 2012

In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Georgia Winery will release a new wine to pay tribute to the American Civil War.

Battlefield 150 is set to be released at the Georgia Winery’s Independence Day Celebration next week. The new wine will remember the Battle of Chickamauga, the second most gruesome battle during the Civil War, fought only a few miles from the winery’s front door. This historic battle marked the last major Confederate victory, giving the Confederate soldiers one last breath of defeat.

The American Civil War, fought between 1861 and 1865, had a profound impact on the American nation as a whole, ending slavery, and transforming the practices of the South as well as the economy.

Battlefield 150 is a slightly sweet blend of five different grape varietals- the highest number of grapes the winery has blended into one single wine. The wine is set to premiere at the Independence Day Celebration on June 30 and July 7 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Complementing the release of Battlefield 150 will be live music by Sweet Georgia Sound and the Ralph Miller Trio, barbeque provided by Porkers, wine slushies, and free wine tastings.

Located at 5001 Brainerd Road is a little place called Proni’s. I had heard that they had good pizza, so last week I stopped in for a visit. You order at the counter and they offer subs, gyros, wings, spaghetti and lasagna as well as their pizzas. The Asian woman at the counter looked like the same small girl I had seen before at two other restaurants. She was in Hixson and ... (click for more)

Immigration Reform

We do not have to pander to those in our country who were not invited and made their way here on their own. They are here against our laws that are already on the books which are not enforced.  They do not have negotiation rights to dictate to the United States government nor does our government have the right to pick and choose which laws are to be enforced or ignored so ... Roy Exum: Hypocrisy And Horses

I am still wincing over the fact a horrendous bill passed in the state legislature that would make whistle-blowers into criminals would have actually gone into law had it not been for Governor Bill Haslam’s eleventh-hour veto. Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
