Here are the weekly Top 10 events for Chattanooga Parks and Recreation:

#1 Hixson Community Center Now Open
Located at 5400 School Dr. Full of activities for all ages. Open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. (5-9 p.m. for teens). 
 
#2 Line Dancing at Brainerd Complex
1010 North Moore Road. 425-3600. Join the fun every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. 
 
#3 Scenic City Adaptive Cycling   
Monday June 25.

  Hand cycles and tandem bikes are available for individuals who have physical and visual disabilities. Three wheeled bikes and additional bikes are available as well.  Bring the whole family. Meet at the Riverwalk at 6 p.m. till dusk. Questions, call Elaine at 697-1345.
 
#4 Chattanooga Fitness Center Classes, Just $1
Getting a little warm out but want to exercise? Swing by the Chattanooga Fitness Center Monday-Saturday. Numerous classes available. 
  
#5 Late Night Hoops
Back by popular demand. Thursday-Saturday nights at Howard. Game on, call 643-6055 for more information.
 
 #6 Grilling with B 
Teens, want to learn how to grill? Eat good too?  5-6 p.m. each weeknight at different locations.
 
#7 Adaptive Kayaking 
Join TRS for a trip down the South Chickamauga Creek. Saturday, June 30, from 1-3 p.m. Starting at Sterchi Farm. For more information contact Jessie at 643-5716.
 
#8 Families for $5 after 5 at Warner Park
Two adults, two children can have a blast at Warner Park Pool and the Splash and Play from 5-8 p.m. every Monday in the summer.  Just $5 total.  Call 697-1385 for more information.
 
 #9 Water Fitness Classes
Water fitness classes offered almost daily at both Brainerd Complex and South Chattanooga Complex. Classes also offered Saturday mornings at Warner Park. For more info call 697-1385.
 
#10 Downtown Historic Tour by Kayak  
Saturday, June 30, 9-11:30 a.m. Outdoor Chattanooga in Coolidge Park, 200 River St. Cost: $35 adults/$25 Kids 8-13. Kids 8-13 must paddle in tandem with an adult. Limit: 10 participants.  Reservations required. 


Tennessee Road Construction Suspended For Memorial Day Weekend

Road construction won’t slow motorists down as they travel Tennessee’s highways this Memorial Day weekend.  The Tennessee Department of Transportation will suspend all construction-related lane closures on interstates and state routes beginning at noon on Friday, May 24 through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.  This will provide maximum roadway capacity for motorists ... City Council Ad Hoc Committee To Study Moving Elections To August, Adding More Districts, Staggering Terms

City Council Vice Chairman Chip Henderson said Tuesday he will lead an ad hoc committee that will look into possibly increasing the number of council districts from the current term.
