Thank you for the informative article on Judge Sam Payne. There are very few people who deserve to have the designation, "Honorable," in front of their name but he is definitely one of them. I was not aware of his service to his country during the Korean War but to have entered the Air Force at age 16 and served honorably is just another facet of his remarkable life.
In my father's later years he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease but still insisted on going to the downtown YMCA where he became good friends with Judge Payne.
Our family will always appreciate the kindness and generosity of the judge in helping my father through those difficult times. Whether as a judge, minister, soldier or community leader, Sam Payne is a man of remarkable character and integrity.
