Mocs Earn Pair Of NACMA Best Of Awards

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga took home a pair of 'Best of Awards' at the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators Convention in Dallas, Texas, this week. The Mocs earned Silver Awards in the Sponsorship Program and Sales Piece categories.

Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Best of Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 13 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. An association record of more than 950 awards entries were received for the 2011-12 year.

UTC's Sponsorship Program Award was for the 2011 Women's Football Clinic Inspired by Memorial Health Care Systems. The partnership between Memorial Health Care Systems and the Mocs aimed to back Memorial's initiatives to support women's health as well as disadvantaged families in the community. This event targeted the women in the Chattanooga area to get involved for an exciting day of football and fun while helping support underprivileged families in the Chattanooga area through the Huesman's Huddle program.

Huesman's Huddle was initiated by head football coach Russ Huesman, and provides tickets from Mocs fans, alumni and supporters to be donated to provide free admission to home football games to underprivileged fans. The clinic drew over 50 participants and resulted in the donation of over 50 season tickets to the Huesman's Huddle program.

The Sales Piece Award was for UTC's Football Game Day Guide. The UTC Athletics Department has always put together a "Fan Guide" to inform both football and basketball season ticket holders. With football crowds continuing to grow and thousands of people buying single-game tickets each week, UTC started developing a promotional piece to target more than just the die-hard season ticket holder.

In 2011, the second annual "Game Day Guide" was developed for all fans that purchased single-game tickets. The guide not only contained all of the necessary information surrounding game days at Finley Stadium, but also included some fun elements. The convenient third page sized brochure contains two foldout flaps that house a large version of our stadium map. Other necessary information is included in the "Finley Stadium A-Z Guide," the "Ultimate Fan Checklist," information on Scrappy's Kids Club memberships and how to become a member of the UTC Mocs Club.

Chattanooga was one of just 14 Division I athletics program across the country to earn multiple 'Best of Awards.' Over the last three years, UTC has taken home nine 'Best of Awards' at the annual NACMA Convention.
