Hunter Safety Classes Announced

Here are upcoming hunter safety classes, offered by the TWRA:

Bradley  County – Traditional Class – Cleveland State Community College, 3535 Adkisson Dr., Cleveland, TN 37312,  Monday – Thursday, Aug. 20 –23.  (6:30 – 9:30 p.m.) and live fire on Sunday, Aug. 26 at the Cleveland Hunting, Rifle & Pistol  Club, 2522 Leadmine Valley Rd. S.W., Cleveland, Tn. 37311  (time to be announced).  You must be nine years of age on or before the first day of class.  Bring social security number and a pencil to class. Must pre-register by calling 423-472-7141 ext. 458 and follow instructions on the automatic message system.  The instructor is Ted Keirn.  Must attend all classes to be certified. 

Hamilton County – CD Field Day – Calvary Baptist Church in Red Bank, July 21, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern.  You must be nine years of age on or before the first day of class.  Bring social security number and a pencil to class.  Cal 423-605-9840 and leave voice mail to register.  Instructor Jon Finch.

Morgan County – Traditional Class – Wartburg American Legion Hall, 202 S. Kingston St., Wartburg, Tn.  37887.  Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, July 2, 3 & 5   (5:00 – 8:00 p.m.) and Saturday, July 7 (8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon ).  You must be nine years of age on or before the first day of class.  Bring social security number and a pencil to class. Must pre-register by calling the instructor Bill Podewils at 423-628-5635 or Mindy at 423-346-3554.  Must attend all classes to be certified. 

Rhea County – Traditional Class – Rhea County High School Little Theater.  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, Aug. 6, 7, 9 & 10.  (6:00 – 9:00 p.m.) and Saturday (7:00 a.m. til finished, will shoot).  Must attend all classes to be certified.  You must be nine years of age on or before the first day of class.  Bring social security numer and a pencil to class.  Register the first night of class.  The instructor is Burton Capps.

Roane County – Traditional Class – Kingston Community Center, 201 Patton Ferry Road.  Monday – Friday, Aug. 6 – 10.  (6:00 – 9:00 p.m.).  Must attend all classes to be certified.  You must be nine years of age on or before the first day of class.  Bring social security number and a pencil to class.  Register the first night of class.  The instructor is Brad Daugherty.


TDOT Announces Completion Of New Community Park In Nashville

Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Commissioner John Schroer joined Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and residents on Thursday to celebrate the completion of a new community park which sits at the corner of Gale and Lealand Lanes. TVA Celebrates National Trails Day With Enhancement Efforts

The Tennessee Valley Authority will be making improvements at six trail locations in Tennessee and Alabama on Saturday, June 1, to celebrate National Trails Day and is encouraging volunteers to participate. Feds Dismiss Criminal Charges Against Rarity Developer Mike Ross

Federal authorities have dismissed an indictment against Mike Ross, the developer of a floundering Rarity Club project at Nickajack Lake in Marion County. The Maryville developer was charged last November with mail fraud, wire fraud and money laundering. Head Of BB&T's Chattanooga Commercial Banking Operations To Plead Guilty To Making Fraudulent Loans

The head of BB&T's Chattanooga commercial banking operations has been charged by federal authorities with making fraudulent loans. Tracy Brown is set to plead guilty to bank fraud on June 4.
