Harold Douglas Jones, Jr., died Feriday June 22, 2012 at the Odyssey Hospice House after a long courageous battle with multiple myeloma cancer. He was 72.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, the late Harold Douglas Jones, Sr.
He was a graduate of Chattanooga High School and the University of Tennessee/Knoxville, where he earned a degree in chemistry. After graduation he worked for Gillman Paint Company for a number of years and later joined Permite Paint Corporation where he worked for nearly 30 years. He was an accomplished guitar player/performer and an avid songwriter.
Survivors include his son, Rodney (Christie) Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter Kristin Mealor of Atlanta; stepdaughter Syria Sinoski of Houston, Tx.,, his mother, Mary Frances Jones, of Chattanooga, his brother Rick (Connie) Jones of Chattanooga, eight grandchildren and life-long companion Joan Tysinger of Atlanta.
A memorial service where the family will receive friends will be held at 1633 Clifton Terrance, NE., Atlanta, Ga. 30307, from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, July 6, with the Reverend McClellon D. Cox officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DeKalb Medical Foundation, Myeloma Research, 2701 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, Ga. 30033, the American Cancer Society or the Atlanta Humane Society.
