PEARL, MS-Kyle Russell launched a three-run home run in the 11th to lead the Chattanooga Looksouts to a 4-1 victory over the Mississippi Braves at Trustmark Park Wednesday night.

The Lookouts scored four runs on 10 hits while the Braves plated one run on seven hits.

With one out in the top of the 11th, Blake Smith walked and J.T. Wise singled to reach base. Russell then launched his eighth home run of the season, a three-run shot to dead center, giving the Lookouts a 4-1 lead.

The game's only other runs came in the fifth inning. Luis Nunez, Jake Lemmerman, and Matt Wallach singled to load the bases. Rafael Ynoa then reached on a error by the first baseman, Joey Terdoslavich, allowing Nunez to score and give the Lookouts a 1-0 lead.

The M-Braves responded in the bottom of the inning. Alden Carrithers reached on an error by the second baseman, Rafael Ynoa. Greg Paiml singled and Gary Moran laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners over. Keenan Wiley then delivered an RBI-single to left field to tie the game at 1-1.

Javier Solano (1-0) tossed one clean inning to snag his first win. He walked one batter. Steve Ames (S, 6) came on to work the final frame, giving up one hit while fanning one batter en route to his sixth save of the season.

Roy Exum: Hypocrisy And Horses

I am still wincing over the fact a horrendous bill passed in the state legislature that would make whistle-blowers into criminals would have actually gone into law had it not been for Governor Bill Haslam’s eleventh-hour veto. Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
