Paramedics and EMTs treated at least 10 firefighters on the scene of an apartment fire in Bradley County on Thursday.
Stan Clark of Bradley County Emergency Services said they were given oxygen and IV fluids after suffering from heat-related issues.
He said, "The extreme heat makes for a dangerous situation with the combination of fire and smoke."
One firefighter was transported to Sky Ridge Medical Center for possible smoke inhalation. Two residents were treated on the scene for minor issues.
All ambulances were released from the scene at approximately 10 p.m.
At 6:10 p.m., Bradley County Emergency Medical Service responded two ambulances and a paramedic supervisor to the Smokey Mountain Apartments on Highway 64.
EMS units initially transported one woman who was having a possible anxiety attack. EMS stood by on the scene to provide medical support for the Bradley County Fire Department and other responding agencies.
Reports were that four to five apartments were totally involved with fire. Paramedics and EMTs set up a triage and treatment area to rehab the firefighters.
