Azilee Elizabeth Doss Rivers, 85, of Dalton, Ga., died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at her residence. 

She was born on November 6, 1926 in Collinsville, Ala., to the late Andy and Clara Griffin Doss.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rivers, one daughter,  Clara Gail Lampley, two brothers, Clifford Spade and Walter Spade, one granddaughter, Leslie Parker. 

Mrs. Rivers was retired from the Whitfield County Health Department.

Survivors are her four daughters, Sandra Burley, Sherry R. Longmire of Atlanta, Dianne Rivers, and Minister Liz Winfrey of Dalton; seven granddaughters, Lane Pender, Dee-Dee Rivers, Janee Winfrey, Angel Simpson, Beth Winfrey, Sherry (Rafael) Swinney, Maria Burley; grandsons, James Lampley, Hosea Lampley, Brandon (Keysha) Simpson, and Mariante McBrewer; 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Henry Doss of Los Angeles; three sisters-in-law, Mary Betton, Rev. Frances Ramsey, and Eva Lou Rivers; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Service will be Saturday, June 30, at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Johnson, Eulogist and Pastor Dr. Charles McAfee officiating. 

Her remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday after 11 a.m. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5–7 p. m.  Interment is at United Memorial Gardens.
