Jerry Preston Cross, 74, of Dalton, Ga., died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the local hospital. 

Jerry was born September 15, 1937 in Dalton, a son of the late Willis Alexander and Ivy Lee Bingham Cross. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a supervisor and retired from World Carpet. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Mae Davis Cross of the residence; son, Randy Preston and Lisa Cross of Rock Face, Ga.; brother, Perry Cross; sisters, Marilyn Vess of Dalton and Virginia and Gary Rutledge of Sugar Valley, Ga.; grandson, Eric Scott and Nikki Cross; granddaughter, Natoshia Leight; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jerry Preston Cross will be held Tuesday June 5, at 2 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Jeff Vess and Reverend Ricky Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tunnel Hill, Ga. 

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Monday, June 4 at the Ponders Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.
