Bar Louie Set To Open June 11

Monday, June 04, 2012

The much-anticipated Bar Louie will officially join the Hamilton Place family by opening its doors for business on June 11, 2012.

Officials said, "With over 3,000 feet of floor tile, 500 feet of mosaic tile, and 100 linear feet of glass bubble tile lining the walls, Bar Louie is sure to not only serve customers unparalleled food and beverages but also a unique and eye-pleasing atmosphere."

In 1991, Bar Louie opened its first location in Chicago and has since opened locations all over America. Food options include “uniquely presented American food...including small plates, burgers and sandwiches.” The extensive beverage selection entails everything from quality imports, to over 20 wines by the glass, to exceptional cocktails.

The company prides itself on the fact that no two locations are identical. According to its website, “Bar Louie is an eclectic urban bar with warm surroundings, filled with nightlife photography, hand-laid tile artwork and other local architectural touches.” The Hamilton Place location, located on the upper level across from Jos.A. Bank, is no exception.

The tile artwork dispersed throughout Bar Louie and on the patio was completed in a month’s time by the local Alexander Tile, Inc. It features pieces of broken mosaic tile formed into artful squiggles, martini glasses accented with olives, and the Bar Louie logo. The templates were all hand drawn by Megan Steventon of Alexander Tile to add character to the work.

Richard Alexander, of Alexander Tile, said, "It's rare that you have the freedom to be so creative on a commercial job. I have to give most of the credit to my installers at Alexander Tile. They always do great work and are committed to getting the job done."
