Doris M. Carter, 88, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, died on Sunday, June 3, 2012 surrounded by her family.  

Mrs. Carter was born in Vonore, Tn., but spent most of her life in Atlanta. She was a member of Valley Brook Baptist Church in Decatur, GA  Doris loved life, her church and most of all her family and friends and for 31 years was administrative assistant to the director of HUD in Washington, DC. 

She moved to Chattanooga in 2010 to be close to her sister.

She is survived by her sister, Frances Moates of Chattanooga; nieces, Ann Hiett of Nashville, Kathy Jones of Hixson, and Jan Thomas of Florida; nephews, Gene Spencer of Kingsport, Chris Moser of Atlanta, and Jim Parks of Washington state; great-niece, Kelli Spencer of Atlanta; great-nephew, Andrew Moser of Tampa, Fla.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga, NHC of Chattanooga and Elmcroft Assisted Living.

Memorial services will be announced later by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
