Betty A. Steele died on Friday, June 8, 2012 in a local health care facility.

Born Nov. 11, 1937, she was a graduate of Central High School and Chattanooga State Community College in Chattanooga. She was employed by Rossville Companies nearly 40 years serving as Quality Assurance manager for upholstery textiles where she was a member of the ASTM Society and Joint Industry Fabric Committee for many years.  Her last years of employment for the Tennessee Department of Safety as a driver's license examiner was her calling as she enjoyed serving the public alongside coworkers and management.  She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lilah Belle (Brooks) and Roy Edmond Rogers, ex-husband, Walter Lee Steele and daughter, Dianna Francis Steele.

Survivors include her children, Walter Dewayne Steele, Roy Lee and Brenda Susan (Thurman) Steele, Donna Annette (Steele) and Steven Kelly Davidson; grandchildren, Mindy Michelle (Steele) and Jonathon Couch, Allison Danielle (Steele) and Aaron Tennessee Benson, Tyler William Steele, Clinton Thomas and Joshua Carter Davidson; great-grandchildren, Logan and Hudson Couch, Reese Jane and Knox Lee Benson, brother, Murphy Edmond and Gloria Marie (Thibodaux) Rogers, sisters, Peggy Ann (Rogers) and Charles Hicks and Linda Kaye Rogers, nephews, David and Shelia Hicks and Jimmy and Theresa Hicks, aunt Elizabeth (Hickman) Rogers and cousins, Johnny, James and Debra (Masterson) Rogers.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, at noon in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Dr. Keith McCleod officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 11, from 6-9 p.m., and Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
