Amanda Lee Whitman Henry, 72, of Hixson, died on Friday, June 8, 2012.

Mrs. Henry graduated from East High School in Nashville, and attended the University of Tennessee. In 1957, she was awarded the coveted honor of being selected as Miss Tennessee.  She was the first in Miss America Pageant history to bring Trampoline Acrobatics to the talent competition.

Mrs. Henry retired from National Print Group.  She served on the board for the Association of Retarded Citizens and volunteered with The Orange Grove Center and the Special Olympics.  She was a member of Harrison United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dorothy Whitman, daughter, Leeann White, her husband, Ken Henry and brother, Albert Whitman.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Trey and Bonnie White of Lakesite, Tn., granddaughter, Lexi White; grandson, Thomas White; stepchildren, Valorie Hughes, Rick Henry, Ted Henry, Ken Henry; several stepgrandchildren; step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Tuesday, June 12, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tom Hancock officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Orange Grove Center, 615 Derby Street Chattanooga, Tn. 37404.

Eileen L. Trippler, 95, of East Ridge, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.   There will not be any visitation prior to the burial.
