Norris G. Hamm died June 30, 2012. He was born April 18, 1927 in West Virginia but raised in Elizabethton, Tn., where he got saved August 9,1940 at Oak Grove Church. Then in 1945 he married Margaret Ledford.
Norris was drafted into the Army and was honorably discharged in 1946. They moved to Chattanooga so he could attend Tennessee Temple where he graduated in 1954. The Lord was the center of his life. He was a deacon, usher, and Sunday school teacher at Highland Park Baptist Church for over 50 years. He then became a member of Stanley Heights Baptist Church in August 2008. Norris was a faithful, compassionate, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A loyal friend he touched many lives with his humble spirit. He was used by God to bring many souls to Christ. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 67 years, Margaret Ledford Hamm; son, Jerry (Denise) Hamm, and daughter, Debra Vaughn, all of Chattanooga; brother, Roger Hamm of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Krisi Hamm Johnson, Amy Cabe, Josh Hill, Ashley Macco, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 3, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Duncan and Rev. Brent Baughman officiating. The interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
