William I. Barnes, 77, passed away peacefully at home Friday morning, July 13, 2012, surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Diana Barnes Wynne; parents, William Mont and Mary Lee King Barnes; and a brother, Donald “Buddy” Barnes.
William was a member of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Penn Dixie Cement and was co-owner of B&B Crafts & Florist in South Pittsburg.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patty Scharer Barnes of Bryant, AL; son, Darian and wife, Annette Barnes; grandchildren, Michelle, Zane and Emily Barnes, Ben and Sara Gatlin; close friends, Mildere Hornbuckle and Eddie Parrott; sisters, Dorothy Berryhill, Jewell (R.O.) Blevins and Helen Durham and their families of South Pittsburg.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, July 15, from 4-8 p.m. CT at Rogers Funeral Home, 400 Laurel Avenue, South Pittsburg, TN 37380.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday, July 16, at 10 a.m. CT with Father Mark Scholz of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.
