James Bertram Wagnon, Sr., 86, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012, at his home in Monteagle, Tennessee. 

He was a native of Quitman, GA, served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, was a member of Chattanooga Civitan Club, and retired as vice president of Marketing after 40 years with Chattanooga Gas Company.  

A member of Morton Memorial Methodist Church since moving to Monteagle, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Chattanooga for 48 years where he served as a lifetime deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a granddaughter. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia Ann; son, James (Lisa) Wagnon, Jr., and daughter, Meredith (Jeff) McEwen; and six grandchildren, Sean, Rachel, Austin, Ashley, Jordan, and Patrick; a niece and two nephews.

Private burial at Chattanooga National Cemetery will be followed by a memorial service on Tuesday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church Golden Gateway, McEwen Chapel, Dr. Thomas Quisenberry and The Reverend Mary Jayne Allen officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service.
