Marty Lasley Stands For What Is Right And True - And Response (2)

Monday, July 16, 2012

We would like to take a moment to encourage Soddy Daisy residents to vote for Marty Lasley in the upcoming election for City Court judge. Over the past 20 years we have had the privilege to know, worship, and serve with Marty and his family at church. We are currently members at a church in Soddy Daisy, where Marty is our Sunday School teacher.  During those 20 years, we have witnessed a man with outstanding faith, character, and integrity in good times and in bad times. And one of the most important qualities he possesses is that he has always stood for what is right and true.

We believe that Soddy Daisy deserves a City Court judge with those same special qualities. Those qualities, In addition to being a life-long resident of Soddy Daisy, and having 25 years of courtroom experience, makes Marty Lasley the most qualified to serve the residents of Soddy Daisy.

We strongly encourage residents of Soddy Daisy to vote for Marty Lasley on Aug. 2.

I am writing to encourage my neighbors to vote for Marty Lasley for Soddy Daisy judge.  I have known Marty Lasley for over 40 years, and I believe that we need a Judge like Marty Lasley in Soddy Daisy.  As a retired human resources manager, I know how important it is to find the right person for a job, and I believe that Marty Lasley is the right person for Soddy-Daisy judge.

Marty is very well-known in Soddy Daisy as a man of deep convictions, high integrity and an extraordinary wit.  His educational qualifications as a Vanderbilt lawyer and his professional background of over 25 years of practicing law speak for themselves.  Marty’s 28-year marriage to his college sweetheart Kelly and the strength of character of their sons Noah and Jonah are testaments to Marty’s personal strengths.  It is a man with this kind of stability and depth of Soddy Daisy roots that we need for our Soddy Daisy judge.

Most importantly, I know that Marty wants to be Soddy Daisy judge because he believes that it is his opportunity to give back to his life-long hometown – the hometown where he went to elementary, junior high, and high school, where he learned to swim, to play football and to drive a car, and where he developed his sense of what it means to be from Soddy Daisy.  Marty continues to call Soddy Daisy home as he now raises his family here, teaches Sunday School here, and continues to want to make Soddy Daisy a better place.  I think that we should give Marty that opportunity.

My knowledge of Marty Lasley began before he was born.  I grew up with his dad, the Rev. Don Lasley.  Also, I taught school with his wonderful and loving mother, Ilene Lasley.  I have known Marty all of his life.  As a young man, Marty was an inspiration to all who knew him and always a gentleman. Marty has carried these traits into his adult life.  He has practiced law for 25 years and opened a solo practice in Soddy Daisy, less than two years after completing law school.  Also, Marty served as Hamilton County magistrate.  Marty has always been active in his church and has taught Sunday school since the eleventh grade.

One of the many things for which I admire Marty is his ability to let you know that you are important to him.  Being from Soddy Daisy, he knows the community and the people who live here.  Marty has a wonderful sense of humor which is comforting.  He is not intimidating and this is a wonderful quality for a hometown judgeship.

He is the best candidate for Soddy Daisy City judge.  He was reared in Soddy Daisy, attended school and church here and understands the very principals our wonderful city was founded.  This is a very important attribute.

Marty wants only the best for our city.  I feel he will give his best.
