The world film premiere of Ella comes to the big screen of Chattanooga’s Tivoli Theatre on Saturday at 8 p.m. presented by TAPA and the Chattanooga SE Tennessee Film Commission as part of the Summer Movie Classics series which will also feature Breakfast at Tiffany’s (the Oscar-winning romantic comedy starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard) later that evening. The premiere of Ella and Summer Movie Classics begin a new series of events at the Tivoli Theatre this summer and fall.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s will show at the Tivoli Theatre Friday at 6:45 and 9 p.m. and on Saturday opening with Ella at 8 p.m. The Summer Movie Classics series will continue the weekends of Aug. 3 and 4 and Aug. 17 and 18 with the film titles to be announced soon. Tickets are $8 ($6 for age 12 and under).
Ella is an indie short filmed on location in Chattanooga and at the Tivoli Theatre. Award-winning Producer/Director and Lee University graduate Myles Matsuno will introduce his film and answer audience questions. Ella tells the story of a young musician and composer who loses his fiancée in a tragic accident. He has to say goodbye the only way he knows how—with his music. At its core, Ella is a film about letting go while keeping the memory of the one you love close to your heart.
EAC Administrator Missy Crutchfield said, “This is the beginning of a series of new events coming to Chattanooga’s Tivoli Theatre. With Summer Movie Classics and premieres of locally produced films and documentaries, we want to kick off our new marketing campaign—Tivoli is ‘ILOVIT’ spelled backwards. It’s all about enjoying lifelong, memory-making events at our venues—both the Tivoli Theatre as well as Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium. So mark your calendars. Bring your friends and family. And from Broadway shows to concerts to movies and film premieres—we want you to walk away from your Tivoli experience saying ‘ILOVIT’!”
