Williams, Marian Lorice (Dalton)

Marian Lorice Williams, 83, of Dalton, GA, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga.

She was a member of Dug Gap Baptist Church and retired from B. F. Goodrich Tires after 30 years of service. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janna Taylor; son, Donald Blake Williams; brother, William Shamblin; and her parents, A. N. Shamblin and Ora B. Keller Rey.

Survivors are granddaughters, Crystal Taylor-Wilkey of Dalton and Amy Danielle Taylor of Chattanooga; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 18, at 11:30 a. m. in the Chapel of Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Bagley and Dr. Jerry Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.

Charles Edward Ruth, 75, of Cleveland, TN, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 . He was nicknamed “Billy Boy” by his grandmother, many friends and family continued to call him “Bill”. William “Bill” Wills Dowdy, 82, died on May 23, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, following a very brief illness. Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
