Eric Stewart Raises $355,000 From More Than 950 Contributors

Tuesday, July 17, 2012
The Eric Stewart for Congress Campaign closed out its second quarter Federal Election Commission finance report showing $158,308.66 in donations received during the second quarter, bringing the campaign’s total donations to date to $355,253.26. During the second quarter, the campaign received donations from 548 individuals, bring the total number of individuals that have contributed during the election cycle to more than 950.

“I am very thankful to the nearly 1,000 individuals that have donated to our campaign thus far,” Mr.
Stewart said. “Whether it’s a donation of $5 or $250, these individuals have shown they believe Washington is broken and that the 4th Congressional district needs a congressman that will stand up for families that work for a living.”

Officials said, "Polling conducted by Mr. Stewart’s campaign shows that Rep. DesJarlais is unknown in vast swaths of the new 4th Congressional District. Rep. DesJarlais’ vulnerability is reflected in the high level of participation in the campaign to date. In addition to more than 950 contributors, the Stewart campaign has recruited more than 150 volunteeers."

“I know that money is important in these races, but there are a lot of things money can’t buy,” Mr. Stewart said. “Money can’t buy votes. Money can’t build relationships, and money can’t change the fact that on March 29, Scott DesJarlais walked on the floor of Congress and betrayed working families when he voted to cut agriculture by $60 billion, voted to destroy Medicare, and voted to raise the Social Security retirement age to 70.”

The Stewart campaign released its polling memo which it said shows a clear path to victory in this race.
