Fred Chester Gordon, 69, of Fort Oglethorpe, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at a local hospital.

 

His passions in life were his family, woodworking, sports, especially football, and teaching the Gospel.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lewis and Mildred Gordon.

 

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sheila Wood Gordon, daughter, Julie (Randy) Wolfe, son, John Gordon, three grandchildren, Colby, Jeffery and Josie Wolfe, two brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 22, at 4 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Minister Jimmy Cribb officiating.

 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 21, from 4- 8 p.m., and Sunday, from 2-4 p.m. in the funeral home.
