This election, I will be voting for Judge David Norton to retain the bench within the Hamilton County General Sessions Court. I can reiterate that Judge Norton served 28 years as assistant Hamilton County attorney and 27 years as the elected city judge in Soddy Daisy. I can tell you that he served as commissioner for the Hixson Utility District and that he was appointed by the last four Tennessee governors to the State Utility Management Review Board.
However, anyone interested in this election has probably already researched and knows those things.
What some of you may not know is Judge Norton’s character. A neighbor and family friend for many years, Judge Norton is not only a professional, he is a family man. He is intelligent, fair, and has an excellent rapport with people of all ages. Not only is Judge Norton respected among his family and friends, he is respected by his peers.
Since his appointment, the Chattanooga Bar Association conducted a preference poll for the seven candidates who are running for the Sessions Court judgeship. The members gave Judge Norton the majority vote of 52.8 percent. Of the votes cast, he received an impressive 133 votes while his closest competitor received only 62. It is my opinion that Judge Norton will continue being a fair, decisive, and respectful judge to all parties who appear before him. Based on the results of the poll, his peers feel the same way.
When Judge Norton received his appointment, he resigned all of the positions mentioned above in order to serve his community. I think we should show our gratitude and serve our community on Aug. 2nd and vote for Judge David Norton. If you happen to be in a hurry to show your support, early voting is July 13-28.
