Funeral Is Thursday For Chattanoogan Killed In Dalton Plane Crash

Funeral services will be Thursday for Donald Lee "Donnie" Holbrook, 52,  who died Saturday from injuries sustained in a plane crash near the Dalton Airport.

A longtime resident of Chattanooga, he was owner of Holbrook Performance Inc. since 1992.  He was an avid drag racer and a member of the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) . He traveled the world as a goodwill ambassador for the NHRA and touring with Top Fuel Dragsters.  He was a national record holder in the drag racing industry and mentored many in the industry.   He was a sponsor for the National Championship of Alcohol Funnycar.

An avid pilot, he was a member of the National Pilots Association and had obtained 5 certified licenses.

Mr. Holbrook was also a private investigator and avidly enjoyed four wheeling, dirt biking and guns. 

Survivors include his wife, Barbara M. Holbrook.

The service will be at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. T.D. Burgess officiating.   Burial will follow at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life or St. Jude Hospital.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. and Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.


Pickup Truck Goes Through Wall On Cummings Highway
