Longtime Business Owner And Manager Was World War II Veteran

William “Bill” Harvey Keown, 93, of Rossville, a longtime Catoosa County resident, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 20, 2012.

 

Bill was born in Walker County, GA, on Dec. 17, 1918 to the late Ben and Nora Keown.  He had a varied career, having spent most of his professional life as a business owner and manager in Alabama.  Bill also worked in the Lumber Industry in Northern California and Georgia following a period of military service with the U.S. Marine Corp prior to WW II.  His primary non-professional interests were reading, history, machinery and woodworking.  Bill was an active member of East Ridge Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and member of the Chapel Class.

 

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Charles and Ben Keown, Jr.

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Martha Neal Keown, sons and their spouses, Stephen (Patt) Keown, Houston, TX, and Stanley (Debbie) Keown, Ringgold, GA; two grandchildren, Brandon (Ferne) Keown and Dr. Michelle Keown; three great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine Webb, Heiskell, TN; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 23, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating.  Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
