Elsie Faye Cooper Grogan, 93, of Menlo, Georgia, died on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Grogan was born February 22, 1919 in Chattooga County, Ga., the daughter of the late William Pink Dempsey and Annie Mae Willingham Dempsey. Mrs. Grogan was retired from Mt. Vernon Mill. She also retired from Wal-Mart after17 years of employment. She was the oldest living member of Beersheba Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder. Other than her parents, Mrs. Grogan was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted Cooper; second husband, Carl Grogan; and a sister, Helen Rich.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, H. D. “Bub” and Wanda Cooper; daughters, Ann Ward and Joan DuBois; brothers, Harrel “Bud” Dempsey and William “Tab” Dempsey; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Cooper, Matt Cooper, Wendy Cooper, Jeff Ward, Melody Davis, Robert DuBois, and Melissa Braswell; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27, at Macedonia Cemetery with Reverend Ken Terrell officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Ward, Matt Cooper, Robert DuBois, Cary Braswell, Clayton Davis, Rob Dempsey, and Trey DuBois. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Shaw, Carolyn and Ronald Hill, Corey and Greg Hughes, Dempsey Lawson, Chris Bowman, Lois Mason, Nita Smith, Fonda Henderson, and Brenda and Gene Wesson.

Mrs. Grogan will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 26.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Beersheba Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
