Syntec Industries Chooses LaFayette For Expansion

  • Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Working with Walker County Commissioner Bebe Heiskell, Syntec will keep 120 of its current jobs and is planning to add 60 new jobs in the coming weeks at its LaFayette plant.

“We are so pleased that Syntec chose to expand its LaFayette plant,” said Commissioner Heiskell. “We continue to receive wonderful economic news that translates into more job opportunities for our residents. It is this type of investment that has kept our economy moving in these recent years of recession.”

The expansion plans calls for an estimated $2.5 million worth of new capital investment in the facility. Currently employing 120 workers, the plant will employ 180 after the expansion is complete.

“We have been working with Syntec for several months now ironing out a few wrinkles that stood in the way of their plans,” said Commissioner Heiskell.

As an incentive for expanding its job base in Walker County, Commissioner Heiskell will provide Syntec with some tax relief over the next five years.

“We chose to expand our LaFayette plant because of the wonderful cooperation we have received from the Walker County Development Authority led by Commissioner Heiskell,” said Tom Waters, Chief Operations Officer of Syntec. “I would also like to thank Senator Jeff Mullis and Mayor Neal Florence for the assistance with the project as well.”

The expansion of Syntec Industries, LLC, the company that bought out Color Spectrum, Inc. in 2007, is the third major job announcement from Commissioner Heiskell out of Walker County in less than a year.

“With this as yet another example of Commissioner Heiskell’s commitment to bringing new jobs to Walker County, her team needs to be congratulated,” said Senator Jeff Mullis (53rd District).
